Product Description

The Criterion Traveller 500 is an ever-popular general purpose 3/4 season down sleeping bag and a much-loved part of our range. With a comfort temperature rating of -7°C, you can camp out in the UK for most of the year. Weighing a little over 1 kg, the Traveller 500 is light to carry if you are going trekking. In 2021, 2022 and 2023 the Criterion Traveller 500 was used by the Bahrain Raid Xtreme team during the Dakar Rally, finishing 2nd overall in 2022 and 2023.

Description

It is made using a Pertex Quantum ripstop shell 52gms/m² (formerly Pertex Microlight) filled with 500g of 700 FP Polish Goose down. Trapezoid construction eliminates cold spots enabling a comfortable nights sleep. Neck and zip baffles keep out drafts, whilst 2-way YKK zips enable venting to help you control the temperature inside your sleeping bag.

A DWR treatment of the shell helps protect the down from any dampness that may occur in your tent, from condensation or wet gear. When in its stuff sack, the pack size of 15 x 15 x 30 cm is relatively small, leaving room in your rucksack for your other items.

Suggested Outdoors Activities

The activities most suitable for using a Criterion Traveller 500 down sleeping bag are 3/4 season trekking or cycle touring and summer alpinism. The night-time temperature when you are doing these activities could well be a few degrees below freezing. With a comfort temperature of -7°C, the Criterion Traveller 500 will keep you warm without being too hot in milder weather. Its weight of 1005 grams enables the sleeping bag to be carried comfortably in your rucksack.

Traveller 500 Down Sleeping Bag

“I tested the Traveller 500 out during my recent trip to Saxon Switzerland where I went cave camping and also on some other overnight trips. The temperatures in Saxon were -4°C and it snowed. The performance of the bag was really good and I would definitely be comfortable using this sleeping bag in a tent at -5°C.

The Criterion Traveller 500 packs down very small in its stuff sack and also comes with a very robust storage back for when it is not being used.

What I really like about the Traveller 500 is the loft of the high quality goose down. The loft is much higher than in other sleeping bags. The Traveller 500 is really well made with the name stitched on, not printed, and even better it is made in the EU! The design of the baffles is well thought out, the thermal collars are great for keeping the heat in and it has high quality YKK zippers. Also the fit of the sleeping bag is very good for me.

After examining at all the features and using this sleeping bag in cold weather, I can say that I really recommend the Criterion Traveller 500 down sleeping bag”

I purchased a Traveller 500 Sleeping bag back in the summer of 2010 in anticipation of a round the world trip. The sleeping bag was absolutely awesome, I am a definite advocate from here!
